MG Hector, the first vehicle from MG Motor India, will be launching in May or June 2019. However, they have plans to roll out the 7-seater version of this SUV as well. The bigger version will arrive after a few months from the launch of 5 seater version and will also carry a different name. MG Hector will be competing against Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier, and Jeep Compass.
MG Hector is a rebadged Baojun 510 which is available in China. It is available in 5 and 7 seat configurations and has different body length to accommodate the last row seats.The same vehicle with MG badging will arrive in India. It is expected to carry a 2.0 liter engine under the hood. MG has also Announced its MG EZS for India. It’s an electric version of globally available MG ZS and will be launched by October 2019. This car will compete with Hyundai Kona electric vehicle and Mahindra XUV300 EV which are slated to launch by year and and first quarter 2019 respectively.
A Maruti Vitara Brezza and Mahindra XUV300 rival will also be built under MG nameplate and may touch the Indian soil by next year only. A total of 4 cars have been planned for India.
MG will be retailing all these vehicles through its 100 outlets across the country. All these facilities will be functional by MG Hector launch.
