Mahindra XUV300

Inspired from the elder sibling, Mahindra XUV300 looks macho and frugal. The cheetah inspired front looks massively aggressive and leaves no marks of the donor vehicle Ssangyong Tivoli, over which this car is based. Mahindra has reworked on the donor vehicle excessively to make it appropriate for our market. From slashing down the length to putting in a new engine, Mahindra XUV300 specification chart won’t get you any close to that of Tivoli from Ssangyong. Let’s get a deep look on how Mahindra XUV300 features looks like –

Mahindra XUV300 Exterior

From outside, this car is an entirely new affair. The King of SUV manufacturing in India has given it great genes and they are no less than any other Mahindra vehicle. While being based on the X 100 platform from Korean manufacturer, it has been cut down to fit under sub 4-meter of length. The XUV badge gets completely justified with its appeal where seven slot front grille is taken from the elder sibling. Headlights get a LED DRL treatment across its head and sides which is stretched to its bumper as well.

The 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels make it look bigger than it actually is. The rear portion above the wheel get a hump which is again taken from the bigger XUV and Tivoli. Mahindra XUV300 features an LED tail light which is swept back from side and stretches upto the boot gate. Bumpers are designed to look rugged with black and silver cladding. Mahindra XUV300 sunroof is not panoramic but is a good addition to the segment.

Mahindra XUV300 Interior

Their is positive feel inside Mahindra XUV300 cabin, though it is heavily inspired from the Korean donor. Indian manufacturer has altered and added some of the bits in order to make it look different, and justify the demand and cost. The international version of this car has a silver and black finish on dashboard, however, going the Indian style, XUV300 interior is a beige and brown affair. It also has a touch screen and infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple carplay.

The steering is multi-functional gets silver button for operations. The meter console has a small MID and analogue speed and tachometer with red and white accents. The climate control dial looks massive and adds to the function and the cabin has multiple pockets and places to keep usual stuff. Mahindra XUV300 seating capacity is for 5 passengers and the seats are properly bolstered for comfort and adequate for long highway runs.

Mahindra XUV300 Performance

Mahindra XUV300 engine is the same one which is powering Mahindra Marazzo. It has a decent power of 121 PS along with 300 Nm of torque. While the engine is highly capable, it is expected to deliver a good fuel efficiency. XUV300 mileage may fall between 22 to 25 kmpl on an average basis, though the lighter XUV300 weight will help it gain better efficiency than Marazzo. This engine is a freshly brewed engine from the Indian manufacturer and will make its way as a common motor for several products from the stable.

None of the Mahindra XUV300 competitors in the market are having an engine with such figures and hence, this car will enjoy its game to the fullest. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza with 83 PS, Ford Ecosport with 100 PS, and Tata Nexon with 110 PS seem quite empty with the car in the talk now. Though Mahindra XUV300 engine specification for diesel seems really great, we are eager to have a hands on the petrol powered version. Mahindra XUV300 on road price will remain close to the other contenders in the segment, at this makes it wealthier choice.

Mahindra XUV300 Ride and Handling

Mahindra XUV300 handling, being a Mahindra product, is as good as its name. The car moves like a breeze and handes corners and curves easily. It has a lower roof which opposes the body roll effect and keeps it on track while cornering. The suspension setup is ideal for rough roads and keeps the vehicle going with least amount of jerk inside the cabin.

The steering is good to hold and gives a good feedback. It has the right weight and follows driver’s commands.  Though, Mahindra cars do have slightly bouncy rides and the rear passengers keep complaining about this, Mahindra XUV300 ride quality isn’t bad at all and keeps everybody at their place.

Mahindra XUV300 Safety

The Indian manufacturer has taken this vehicle seriously with Mahindra XUV300 safety concerns. It has 7 airbags, ABS, EBD, and ESP. Additionally, it has disc brakes in all 4 wheels which is first in class. It has projector headlamps and LED tail lights. Such things helps a lot during the dark and foggy weather. The large and broad wheels provide good grip on the track and enhance breaking power of the car

Mahindra XUV300 – Buy or Not

Ford Ecosport and Tata Nexon are ruling the current segment. On on hand, Ford’s baby SUV has a lot of grunt under the hood, Tata has filled its looker with great ride quality. Both these cars are well proportioned in all terms. Mahindra XUV300 SUV is another capable beast in the league and it very efficiently defines each an every requirement of a compact SUV. In terms of safety, Mahindra has made it far superior than the other two. Though, in other factors, they are almost identical. Mahindra XUV300 price in India will lie between Rs 8 lakhs to 11 Lakhs which again is a competitive subject. Pick your choice wisely. Let the new Mahindra XUV300 spend at least 6 months in the market so that you can have a proper review and issues that usually appear after the launch of any product. If you are in a hurry, you can pick anyone out of the Ford Ecosport and Tata Nexon.
